Nikon has announced a new entry-level DSLR camera named Nikon D3500. It has arrived a successor for the Nikon D3400 DSLR camera that was launched two years ago. The compact-sized D3500 camera has come with a number of improved features and carries an affordable price tag of $499.
Since the Nikon D3500 is an entry-level camera, it suitable for users who are new to photography. In terms of appearance, the ergonomically designed D3500 that offers better grip looks similar to the D5600 model. The camera offers a very intuitive user interface for beginners and there is a “Guide Mode” that can assist new photographers to shoot professional images. Compared to the predecessor model, the D3500 is not only smaller but lighter. Its improved battery allow users to capture up to 1550 shots per single charge. The D3400 was able to shoot nearly 1,200 shots by charging it once.
The Nikon D3500 is equipped with a 24.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor that is coupled with Nikon EXSPEED image processor. It supports a wide ISO range of 100 – 25600 which makes it possible to capture better photos in low-light conditions. The shooting speed of D3500 is 5 fps. It offers 11-point autofocus system and carries support for Full HD 1080p video shooting at 60fps for 20 minutes. At lower quality, it supports additional 10 minutes of video shooting.
The D3500 features a 3-inch LCD screen and the device is fitted with a pop-up flash. On the right side of the LCD display are the frequently used buttons. The DS3500 relies on Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) to back up 2-megapixel photos automatically. However, for higher resolution photos, it uses the inbuilt W-Fi feature.
The SnapBridge app by Nikon can be used to transfer captured photos through a Bluetooth LE connection. The app can be also used to share photos on social media. A new feature that has been introduced on the app is that it can be used to remotely trigger the camera.
The Nikon D3500 camera will be available for buying across the world including India from 20th September. The DSLR camera comes with 18-55mm VR lens kit with a price tag of $499 which converts to about ~Rs. 35,300. The other bundle that includes the camera and two lens kits of 18-55mm and 70-300mm is priced at $849.95 that is roughly around ~Rs. 60,000. The official pricing of the Nikon D3500 for India will be revealed when its release date nears.
