Nintendo Switch (OLED) has launched after being rumoured in recent months. The Japanese gaming company has announced the new model today. The Switch lineup includes a standard, Lite, and now an OLED variant.
Apart from the display, Nintendo’s latest offering also comes with a few upgrades compared to the original Switch that had debuted way back in 2017. The Switch Lite was the second device in the lineup released in 2019. Read on to know what the Nintendo Switch (OLED) offers out of the box.
Nintendo Switch (OLED) specifications and features
The Nintendo Switch (OLE) has the same dimensions as the original Switch. However, it is also slightly heavier at 0.32kgs. The latest offering also sports a larger 7-inch display with an OLED panel compared to the 6.2-inch LCD screen on the original Switch. The device supports touchscreen functionality.
Apart from the display, the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) comes with a wide adjustable stand for using the console in three different ways including TV mode, tabletop and handheld mode. The gaming console is capable of outputting up to 1080p video to a TV via HDMI cable. The device also comes with a built-in Ethernet port that was missing on the original Switch.
Another upgrade on the Switch (OLED model) is that it packs double the storage compared to the original offering i.e. 64GB instead of 32GB. The latest offering also comes with enhanced audio from the integrated speakers.
The Nintendo Switch (OLED model) is said to offer a battery life of about 4.5 to 9 hours which is the same as the original Switch. Original Joy-Cons and all existing games will also run on the latest variant.
Nintendo Switch (OLED) pricing and availability
The Nintendo Switch (OLED) is priced at $350 (~Rs 26,104). The console comes in a Black main unit and a Black or White dock. Buyers can also choose between White or Neon Red/Neon Blue Joy-Con controllers. The gaming console will be available for purchase from October 8th.
