HMD Global the brand licensee of Nokia has launched a new smartphone called Nokia 1.4. It is the successor to last year’s Nokia 1.3. The latest offering arrives with significant upgrades compared to its predecessor.

Compared to the Nokia 1.3, the key highlights of the Nokia 1.4 include an upgraded display and battery, dual-rear cameras and also a fingerprint scanner. The smartphone also carries an affordable price tag. Let’s take a look at what the device offers out of the box.

The Nokia 1.4 is an affordable Android Go smartphone

The Nokia 1.4 offers a 6.51-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch and thick bezels. The back panel features a circular camera bump and a fingerprint scanner located below it. 

The Nokia 1.4’s dual-camera setup comprises of an 8MP main sensor and 2MP macro unit. The device has a 5MP front-facing snapper. The smartphone comes with Google’s Camera Go app to enhance the pictures with portrait and night modes. 

On the hardware front, the Nokia 1.4 is powered by Snapdragon 215 chipset. It is paired with up to 3GB RAM and 64GB native storage. There is a microSD card slot support up to 128GB. Software-wise, the Nokia 1.4 is based on Google’s Android Go program. It runs on Android 10 (Go Edition) out of the box. The device will get three years of OS and security updates. 

The Nokia 1.4 is backed by a 4,000mAh battery life that can be topped up via a 5W charger. Connectivity options on the device include microUSB port, 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 

Nokia 1.4 pricing and availability

The Nokia 1.4 starts at $99 (~Rs 7,200) for the 1GB RAM and 16GB storage variant. The brand hasn’t revealed the prices of 1GB + 32GB and 3GB + 64GB configurations. The smartphone is available for purchase starting today in global markets in Charcoal, Dust and Fjord colours. It’s unknown if the phone will arrive in India. 

In other news, Nokia India has teased the launch of Nokia 3.4 in the country. It is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
