HMD Global has launched its latest budget Android One smartphone in India called the Nokia 2.4. The smartphone comes with stock Android 10 and has been priced just above Rs 10,000 in the country. The features of the latest smartphone include a 6.5-inch display, 13-megapixel dual rear cameras, 4,500mAh battery, and MediaTek Helio P22 SoC.

The smartphone is up for pre-order the country, however, there’s no word on the sale date yet. The latest from Nokia will take on some heavyweights in the country from the likes of Xiaomi and POCO. The Redmi 9 Prime (review) and the POCO M2 are the top two contenders for the Nokia 2.4. Let’s take a look at how the new launch fares against the competition.

The Nokia 2.4 has been launched in a single configuration with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. The lone variant has been priced at Rs 10,399 is now up for pre-orders on the official website. The smartphone is being offered in Dusk, Fjord, and Charcoal colour options. There’s no word on the sale date yet.

The Redmi 9 Prime comes in two configurations with more RAM – 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB. These variants retail at Rs 9,999 and Rs 11,999, respectively. The smartphone is available in Matte Black, Mint Green, Space Blue and Sunrise Flare colours. It can be picked up from Mi.com, Amazon, Mi Homes and Mi Studios.

Lastly, POCO M2 also comes in two configurations but with 6GB RAM – 6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB. The former has been priced at Rs 10,499 and the latter will set you back by Rs 11,499. The smartphone is available in Slate Blue, Brick Red and Pitch Black colours on Flipkart.

In the display department, all three smartphones feature 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a waterdrop notch on top. However, the POCO M2 and Redmi 9 Prime come with FHD+ resolution, whereas, the Nokia 2.4 only offers HD+. All three smartphones also feature the taller 20:9 aspect ratio.

The Nokia 2.4 features a 13MP dual-camera setup

The Nokia 2.4 comes with the entry-level MediaTek Helio P22 SoC paired with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. The smartphone is an Android One offering, which means it comes with the stock Android 10 out of the box. The Redmi 9 Prime and POCO M2 are both powered by the mid-range gaming-centric MediaTek Helio G80 processor. Both these smartphones feature the Android 10-based MIUI 11 out of the box with POCO M2 featuring POCO Launcher on top.

This round boils down to the Redmi 9 Prime and POCO M2. The latter comes out on top here since it’s the only smartphone offering 6GB RAM for both variants. In comparison, the Redmi 9 Prime comes with 4GB RAM for both variants.

The Nokia 2.4 loses out in comparison here. The smartphone features a dual-camera setup on the rear featuring a 13-megapixel primary lens backed by a secondary 2-megapixel depth sensor. The waterdrop notch on the front is housing a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.

On the contrary, the Redmi 9 Prime and POCO M2 are both quad-camera flaunting devices. These smartphones have a 13-megapixel primary sensor backed by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, 5-megapixel macro lens, and 2-megapixel depth sensor on the rear. In the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

Both these smartphones support 18W fast charging but the fast charger needs to be purchased separately.
