HMD Global, after launching four new devices in India viz. Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, and Nokia 8, is now gearing up to launch its fifth Android smartphone which will go by the name Nokia 2. The upcoming device is expected to be priced below the Nokia 3, which is currently the cheapest among the recently launched phones.
The Nokia 2 was expected to launch together with its other siblings, however, we didn’t see it sharing the limelight with them. The Nokia 2 however, saw a couple of leaks in the past when the device showed up on a GeekBench listing, sporting a Snapdragon 212 SoC. The listing also revealed other specifications about the Nokia 2, such as it packing 1GB of RAM, Android 7.1 Nougat and bearing a score of 422 in the single-core test and 1146 in the multi-core test.
Recently, the Nokia 2 has been leaked once again by popular leakster, Evan Blass. This time around, the device has shown up in the form of images which are alleged press renders. The images show that the device will be available in two dual-tone colour variations – Black and White. The black variation, as per the images may have a white back and the White variation will sport a Black coloured back.
On further analysing the images, it can be observed that the smartphone will come with a single camera module at the back and a front-facing selfie camera. Both the front as well as the rear camera are seen to be coupled with LED flash for capturing images in dark environments. The Nokia branding is also visible on the phone – below the rear camera on the back and next to the speaker grill on the front.
In addition to the press images, the spec-sheet has also been leaked revealing key information regarding what lies under its hood. The phone will feature a Snapdragon 212 processor which will be coupled with a gigabyte of RAM. The phone has also been alleged to come in four variations out of which two are expected to be single-SIM variants while the rest will be dual-SIM variations.
From the reports, it has also come to our knowledge that the Nokia 2 will feature the largest battery on a Nokia phone at 4000mAh. For the shutterbugs, the smartphone is expected to feature an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.
As far as pricing is concerned, bearing in mind its specifications, the phone should be priced below the Nokia 3. Tentatively, the Nokia 2 should be priced at Rs. 6000 or lower. The upcoming device from HMD Global should see its launch by late September or early October, as per reports.
