In 2017, Nokia launched new Android smartphones to regain their lost customers. Among the most popular ones were the mid-range Nokia 5 and the flagship Nokia 8. The Finnish firm has now announced that the price of both the phones have been slashed. The Nokia 5 was originally priced Rs. 15,299 but is now available for Rs. 11,299. Whereas, the Nokia 8 was launched for a price of Rs. 36,999 but can be bought at Rs. 28,999 now. This price cut announcement comes weeks ahead of Mobile World Congress 2018 where Nokia is expected to announce new phones.
The Nokia 5 is a mid-range smartphone that comes with a 5.2-inch HD display. It has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset along with 3GB of RAM. The performance specifications ensure that multi-tasking shall be smooth. The phone has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies.
On the storage front, there is 16GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat but an upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo is available for the phone. Incidentally, the 2GB variant of the Nokia 5 has been discontinued. Now, only the 3GB model is available at the discounted price.
Nokia 8 is the brand’s flagship device as of now. It comes with high-end specifications and features at a budget flagship price. After the price cut, it has become even more affordable. The phone comes with a 5.3-inch QHD display along with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
It has a dual-rear camera setup with two 13-megapixel sensors. On the front, there’s a 13-megapixel sensor as well. The Nokia 8 is currently the only phone apart from Google Pixel 2 to have the Android 8.1 Oreo update. So if you prioritize quick software updates, this might be a great choice for you.
