Nokia 7.1 With HDR Display and Dual Cameras Launched in India

Last month, HMD Global announced the Nokia 7.1 smartphone at an event in London. Today, the Finnish firm has launched the same smartphone in India. The handset features an HDR display and ZEISS-branded dual cameras. The Nokia 7.1 carries a price tag of Rs 19,999.

Design and Display

The Nokia 7.1 features a glass and metal design. The handset measures 154.8 x 75.8 x 8mm and weighs 178 grams. The 5.84-inch IPS LCD PureDisplay is an HDR10 compliant screen that produces full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,280 pixels. The notched screen offers an aspect ratio of 19:9. The display is capable of upscaling non-HDR content using a dedicated 16-bit engine for an enhanced viewing experience. The display of the phone is shielded by Gorilla Glass 3.

Performance and Software

The Snapdragon 636 chipset is present under the hood of the Nokia 7.1. The handset comes in 3GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variants. It comes with a microSD card slot for additional storage. The 3,060mAh battery of the Nokia 7.1 features USB Type-C fast charging, which allows it to gain 50 percent battery life in just 30 minutes.

The device runs Android Oreo in India and is an Android One device. The smartphone has already received Android 9 Pie update in some of the markets where it has been released.

Cameras and Other Features

The ZEISS branded 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup sits on the rear shell of the Nokia 7.1. The dual cameras are equipped with features like dual-LED flash HDR, bokeh mode, EIS and 360-degree Nokia spatial audio while recording videos. Sitting on the front of the phone is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with AI capabilities for capturing better selfies.

A fingerprint scanner sits on the rear of the Nokia 7.1. It is equipped with connectivity features such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Price and Availability

The Nokia 7.1 carries a starting price tag of Rs 19,999. The smartphone will be available for purchase from December 7th through Nokia’s online store and leading mobile retailers across India. The smartphone can be bought in two colours such as Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel.

Airtel prepaid users who purchase the Nokia 7.1 can avail 1GB of 4G data on plans starting from Rs 199. Airtel postpaid users can take advantage of 120 GB of extra data, a three-month Netflix subscription and one year Amazon Prime subscription on plans starting from Rs 499. HDFC Bank credit and debit card holders can get 10 percent cashback on EMI transactions when the handset is purchased through PineLabs terminals in offline outlets.
