Nokia 8 Poster Leaks Reveal Bezel-less Display, Iris Scanner and much more

On: July 6, 2017

Finland based smartphone maker Nokia has been keeping India abuzz with the launch of its latest phones. Fresh leaks of the Nokia 8 reveal that it could be the brand’s next flagship in line. Some promotional posters shared by Chinese media outlet CNMO showcase what could be the best phone Nokia has made. Rumours were rife that Nokia’s new flagship might be called Nokia 9. However, the posters indicate the new phone’s name to be Nokia 8.

Keeping up with the trend, the Nokia 8 is seen sporting a bezel-less display in the poster. One can also see an USB Type-C port and two speakers lined up at the bottom edge of the device. The phone looks as sleek and modern as you would expect a Nokia flagship to be. The Chinese text in the posters further reveal that the phone will have a metal back for a premium look.

Along with this, an iris scanner might also be a part of the Nokia 8. Recently, Samsung has provided an iris scanner in its Galaxy S8. Even Apple is reportedly working towards a new 3D sensors for biometric authentication which scan your face and unlock your device. Considering this, Nokia’s introduction of an iris scanner in its flagship won’t be surprising.

Since the device is bezel-less, the home button might be placed inside the display. However, a fingerprint scanner couldn’t be seen in the device’s poster pictures. Whether Nokia will replace the fingerprint scanner with an iris scanner or will it place the fingerprint scanner under the display is something yet to be known.

The poster also reveals four different colours of the Nokia 8: Black, Purple, Blue and Gold. We can also see the Nokia branding placed in the thin bottom bezel. The phone might also possess a 3.5mm headphone jack in the top edge.

Nokia’s new flagship is expected to be launched by HMD Global in September. The Indian launch might happen during the same month in the Mobile World Congress event in New Delhi. Whether it will be called the Nokia 8, Nokia 9 or something completely different is still left for speculations.
