Last year, HMD Global introduced the Nokia 9 PureView flagship at MWC in Barcelona. The successor to the device, the Nokia 9.1 PureView has been rumoured for a while. However, now a report suggests that HMD Global may have already skipped the Nokia 9.1 PureView to focus on the Nokia 9.2 PureView. The source claims that the company will be introducing the Nokia 9.2 PureView at some point in the first half of this year. It’s worth mentioning that the launch dates of the Nokia phones are highly unpredictable, so the source is suggests taking the new information with a pinch of salt for now.
According to the report by Nokia-focussed blog Nokia Power User, the Nokia 9.2 or Nokia 9.2 PureView will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 865. The source suggests that the company will not be introducing the Nokia 9.2 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress show in Berlin, which will be taking place between February 24th and February 27th.
The tip to the publication also claims that the Nokia 9.2 will not be arriving with the “Light camera technology”, which is present on the Nokia 9 PureView flagship. Lastly, the report indicates that the Nokia 9.2 or Nokia 9.2 PureView, whatever the brand ends up calling it, will adopt a Nokia 8-like feature and pricing balance to attract the masses. Notably, the source has mentioned that these are preliminary details and much can change at the commercial launch.
A separate report by Nokiamob.net also suggests that the Nokia 9.2 will utilise the Snapdragon 865 processor. Furthermore, the source claims that HMD Global is working on a Nokia phone with a foldable screen. The report indicates that the first foldable Nokia smartphone could be launched either in late 2020 or in early 2021. The handset is said to feature a clamshell design similar to what we have on the Motorola Razr 2019.
Unfortunately, no other details about the upcoming Nokia phones are available at the moment. We can expect some information from the company at the 2020 MWC next month, so stay tuned.
