HMD Global-owned Nokia has teased the India launch of the Nokia 9 PureView on Twitter once again. The Nokia 9 PureView, the only penta-camera-toting smartphone in the world right now, has long eluded the Indian market. There were reports that the smartphone might come to India in April, which was later postponed yet again since the company wanted to prioritise affordable phones according to Pranav Shroff, Global Portfolio GM, HMD Global. After having launched a slew of budget and mid-range phones in the country, it seems that phonemaker is finally on track to launch its flagship here.

The Nokia Mobile India’s official Twitter handle has now posted a video showcasing the imaging prowess of the flagship and revealing the penta-camera module at the end. The tweet reads, “Explore much more than meets the eye with the power of 5. Ultimate focal length control on the Nokia 9 PureView. Coming soon.
#ExploreEveryDetail.” This is pretty self-explanatory and we have known for a while now that the flagship is coming To India. What this tweet confirms is that the launch is not too far away. Unfortunately, the brand has not revealed any concrete timeline for the launch.
To recap, the Nokia 9 PureView sports a 5.9-inch display bearing QHD+ resolution, support for HDR 10 and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The performance department is being handled by the last year’s Snapdragon 845 SoC, which is further backed by 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory. As part of the Android One programme, the flagship boots the stock Android 9 Pie out of the box. The highlight of the smartphone is the ZEISS-branded penta-camera module consisting of dual 12MP RGB sensors and three 2MP monochromatic sensors with f/1.8 aperture. For selfies, you get a 20MP shooter on the front. A 3,320mAh battery unit with 18W fast charging rounds up the spec sheet.
As of now there is no word on the pricing of the flagship but it was launched globally with a price tag of $699 (~Rs 49,653). We will know more in coming days, so stay tuned.
