The lucrative Indian smart TV market is getting ready to welcome a new player. Flipkart recently revealed that it had licensed the Nokia brand name to launch the world’s first first Nokia-branded smart TVs. This makes Nokia the sixth smartphone manufacturer to expand its portfolio, on the heels of Xiaomi, OnePlus, Huawei, Honor, and Motorola. Digit has shared leaked images of the the first Noka TV to reveal some of its key details. The arrival of the new leak suggests that the Nokia TV launch date could be close at hand.
The leaked images showcasing the two corners of the Nokia TV reveal that it possesses a brushed metal frame. The display of the TV seems to be surrounded by thin bezels. ‘Sound by JBL’ branding is clearly visible at the bottom right over the speaker grille. Nokia’s smart TV further features Dolby Audio enhancements on the front speakers, enabling high-quality audio playback. It is also capable of decoding surround sound with DTS TruSurround.
The report reveals that JBL is in complete control of tuning the audio on the Nokia TV. Flipkart further revealed that the smart TV will flaunt features like Clear Vocal Tones and Minimal Harmonic Distortion.
The Nokia smart TV was recently spotted at the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database. The listing confirmed a 55-inch LED panel with 4K Ultra HD resolution. The TV runs an Android 9-based proprietary OS with access to the Google Play Store. With the Nokia smart TV, Nokia competes directly with the Motorola TV, which is another Flipkart exclusive.
