HMD Global has announced the availability of VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi), for Nokia smartphone users. Consumers who use Jio or Airtel networks on their Nokia devices will get access to this function. Jio users who have the Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.2, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.2, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 will be able to utilise this function. Airtel users with the Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 handsets will get access as well. Through this option, consumers can call any smartphone/landline by latching on to a Wi-Fi network for clearer calls.
In case a user moves to a location where Wi-Fi isn’t available, the ongoing call will automatically transfer to their respective network carrier. Consumers can also use VoWiFi to call those who don’t have access to this feature yet.

How to enable VoWiFi on your Nokia phone
Enabling this new feature is an easy task. First, open ‘Settings’ on your Nokia handset followed by a search for ‘Wi-Fi Calling’ option. Next, enable this option and keep both VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling switched on. After this, you can connect to a Wi-Fi network to reap the benefits of this function while the Nokia handset will automatically shift between VoWiFi and the mobile network in case one enters a non-Wi-Fi zone.
Apart from Nokia, Realme and Xiaomi have also rolled out VoWiFi for several smartphones. Infinix has also enabled the feature for a number of its devices, with the Infinix Hot 7 and S5 handsets set to receive it soon.
