Nokia X71 with Punch-Hole Display and Triple Rear Cameras Launched in Taiwan

The Nokia X71 is now official in Taiwan. It is the first Nokia phone to arrive with a punch-hole display and triple rear cameras. HMD Global has launched couple of phones with dual rear cameras in the past, and the recently launched Nokia 9 PureView is the world’s first phone with five rear-mounted cameras.

Design and Display

The Nokia X71 measures 157.19 x 76.45 x 7.98mm and it weighs 180 grams. The smartphone sports 2.5D curved glass panels on its front and rear with a metallic frame in between. The handset is fitted with a punch-hole display measuring 6.39 inches.

The PureView display features full HD+ resolution and a screen-to-body ratio of 93 percent, 19.3:9 aspect ratio, 96-precent NTSC wide color gamut, 500 nits of brightness and 1:1400 high contrast ratio. The breathing light enabled power key can glow discreetly for new messages and missed calls.

Performance and Cameras

The 14nm Snapdragon 660 mobile platform powers the Nokia X71 phone with 6GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 128GB, expandable further via a microSD card slot. The 3,500mAh battery that fuels the smartphone carries support for 18W fast charging through USB Type-C. Like other phones from HMD Global, the Nokia X71 is also an Android One phone that runs on Android 9 Pie.

The rear shell of the smartphone has a triple camera setup placed in the centre. It includes a 48-megapixel ZEISS lens with f/1.8 aperture, an f/2.4 aperture 5-megapixel wide-angle lens and an 8-mgeapixel ultra wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view. The triple camera setup comes with dual LED flash and AI scene recognition. HMD Global claims the new image processing technology enables the X71 to shoot bright and clear photos in low-light conditions.

For capturing selfies, the Nokia X71 possess an f/2.0 aperture 16-megapixel front camera. The other features of the Nokia X71 include support for OZO 360 sound technology, a rear-facing fingerprint reader, a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS and dual 4G VoLTE.

Nokia X71 Price and Release Date

The Nokia X71 has landed in Taiwan in a single color option of Eclipse Black. It carries a price tag of 11,990 NTD (~Rs 26,899) and is expected to go on sale in the country on April 10th. It remains to be seen if it will be released in global markets.
