Nothing Phone (1) has been launched in India. Carl Pei launched its “Nothing” startup last year by announcing Nothing Ear (1). Earlier this year, the company confirmed that it would be entering the smartphone market this year. The day has finally arrived as the company unveiled the Nothing Phone (1) as its first-ever smartphone.

The major highlight of the Nothing Phone (1) is the rear-facing customisable LED layout, which can glow when it receives a notification. The device offers other key features, such as a 120Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 7-series chipset with 5G support, 50-megapixel dual rear cameras, and a big battery with fast charging support. Nothing Phone (1) is now up for pre-booking. It will be available for purchase through Flipkart and Nothing’s official website from July 21st, 2022.

Buyers who pre-ordered the handset will get a Rs 2,000 instant discount on purchasing the Nothing Phone (1) with HDFC bank cards. Nothing also announced a Nothing Power 45W charger, which carries a price tag of Rs 2,499. During, the pre-order period, the charger will be available at a discount price of Rs 1,499 for Phone (1) buyers. Currently, the Nothing Ear (1) is listed for Rs 6,999. For customers who pre-order the Phone (1), the Ear (1) will be available for Rs 5,999.

Nothing Phone (1) is powered by the Snapdragon 778G+ chipset

The Nothing Phone (1) has a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. It supports an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 10-bit colours. The display will be integrated with an in-screen fingerprint scanner and will arrive with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. For selfies, it has a 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 selfie camera.

The rear-facing camera unit has an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 main camera. It will be coupled with a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 ultra-wide lens with a 114-degree FOV. The device cameras support 60fps 4K video recording, scene detection, night mode, and live HDR.

The rear LED layout, which is dubbed the Glyph Interface, can light up for notifications and charging status. Users can also set personalised light patterns for different callers. The smartphone runs on a near-stock version of the Android 12 OS, which is overlaid with the Nothing OS UI. As the company had confirmed earlier this year, the Phone (1) will receive three years of Android updates and four years of security updates.

With up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, the Snapdragon 778G+ SoC powers the Nothing Phone (1). The Phone (1) has a 4,500mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging and 15W Qi wireless charging. The other key features of the Phone (1) include face unlock, dual SIM, 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, a USB Type-C port, and dual stereo speakers. Lastly, it also carries IP53-rated water resistance.
