Nothing OS

Nothing OS will offer a near-stock Android experience
Carl Pei described Nothing OS as “the best of Android OS combined with our iconic design language and the hub for digital life.” It will offer stock Android-like experience with 40 percent fewer preinstalled apps and no bloatware. The OS, which promises a fast and smooth experience, will provide users with bespoke fonts, colours, graphical elements and sounds based on the design language of the brand.
Nothing OS will provide optimal resources and RAM for frequently used apps by learning from the user’s usage pattern. The apps that are used the most will launch faster, and the background apps that continue to use resources will be closed. Hence, the Nothing OS will be able to open and close apps quickly.
Nothing OS will deliver a unified experience across different screens and consistent design throughout the system. It will also offer minimal animations that will offer a distraction-free user experience. For instance, the clock and top widgets are kept in the same place on the lockscreen and the homescreen. In addition, the thickness and contrast of the font change gently across different screens.
Nothing Launcher
The first preview of the Nothing OS will be available through the Nothing Launcher, which will be available for select smartphones from April.
Nothing also announced a $10M allocation for an upcoming equity-based community investment round at the same valuation as its Series B funding co-led by EQT Ventures and C Ventures. The investors get access to Nothing’s private community through which they will get exclusive benefits and insights into the company. The pre-registration for early access is now open, and the investment round will go live on April 5th, 2022.
