Nothing has teased the arrival of a new device. This has given birth to rumors that the company could be planning to launch its next smartphone, which is dubbed the Nothing Phone 2a by the rumor mill.
As can be seen in the below image, the bio section of Nothing’s X account states “something is coming this week.” Tipster Ishan Agarwal has claimed that the launch of the Nothing Phone 2a is not too far away, which indicates that the brand may confirm the arrival of the said device at some point this week.
The upcoming Nothing Phone 2a marks the third smartphone release by the brand, following the original Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2). While the initial model featured the Snapdragon 778G, the Phone (2) came equipped with the high-end Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 flagship chipset and was priced at Rs 44,999 (~$539). The branding of “Phone 2a” indicates a potential focus on affordability, with expectations that it could be priced around Rs 30,000 (~$359). According to leaker Sanju Chaudhary, the Nothing Phone 2a has the AIN42 model number and packs a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. As far as design is concerned, the display will have a centred punch hole, and its rear panel will be flanked by the Glyph interface.
There is no word on whether it will feature a Qualcomm or MediaTek chipset. However, the leak states that the device will draw power from a 4,920mAh battery. Unfortunately, there is no information about the fast charging capabilities of the device.
On the photography front, the Phone 2a is expected to feature a 16-megapixel selfie camera and an OIS-enabled dual-camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel primary snapper. It will run on Android 14 with a layer of Nothing OS 2.5 on top.
