Nothing is gearing up to launch its first-ever smartphone. The Carl Pei helmed company debuted its first product, the Nothing ear (1) TWS earphones in July last year. Now, the executive has teased the Nothing smartphone in a series of cryptic tweets.
Soon after Pei’s tweet, the official accounts of Android and Qualcomm joined the conversation. Last October, a report by publication 91Mobiles revealed that Nothing is working on its own smartphone and it could go official in early 2022.
We've got a lot to catch up on Carl 😉

Nothing smartphone teased to launch soon
In the first tweet, Carl Pei announced his comeback on Android and in the second tweet he praised the latest Android 12. He also tagged Android Senior Vice President at Google, Hiroshi Lockheimer. In response to the above cryptic teasers, Android’s official handle added ‘We have got a lot to catch up on Carl’. On the other hand, Qualcomm shared an image of three hands joining potentially depicting the partnership between Nothing, Android and Qualcomm.
There's so much talent in our community 💙 https://t.co/VNa1lZVcIp

In a separate tweet, Pei shared a response from another user who had shared a concept sketch of the Nothing phone.
It’s quite a possibility that Carl Pei is indeed teasing the arrival of the Nothing smartphone. Last year in October, the brand announced its partnership with chip-maker Qualcomm and its Snapdragon platform to power future tech products. Nothing had also acquired Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone last February. Previously, Nothing India’s Vice President Manu Sharma revealed that the company is working on expanding its portfolio and releasing five new products.
If Nothing indeed launches a smartphone, we can expect it to be priced aggressively. We will know more about the brand’s plans in the coming weeks.
