Our lifestyle has reached a point where social media is playing a significant role in our life. We can’t even imagine our life without checking WhatsApp or Facebook once in a while. (or in every five minutes). Even though every one of us is familiar with all the features of Whatsapp (or at least what we think we are.), there are few features which you may haven’t came across yet.
This feature lets you send short videos as a GIF to anyone using WhatsApp. So now, using WhatsApp, you could convert the videos to GIF and also send them to your contact.
Here’s the complete procedure to access this feature:
- First of all, you have to make sure that your WhatsApp is updated. If not, please update your app right now.
- Go to any WhatsApp conversation and tap the attachment icon.
- Either select the Camera and record the video or select Gallery to pick one video.
- After selecting (or recording) the video, tap on an icon located in the upper-right corner of the WhatsApp interface.
- Now tap on Send
- 1. Tap on attachment and select the video
- 2. Now tap on camcorder icon on top right corner
- 3. The icon will now shows
- 4. Voila!!!
That’s all. WhatsApp will convert the video to GIF, and it will automatically play inline. If you want to find this newly created GIF in File Manager of your phone, you can find it by navigating to WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Animated GIFs > Sent folder.
Also, currently WhatsApp only let you convert the videos up to the length of 6 seconds to GIF. Thus, you cannot convert the videos to GIF which are longer than 6 seconds.
What WhatsApp version are you using?
I updated on the beta channel and still couldn’t find the feature.
Hi Abhishek,
I’m currently on 2.16.396. You will get an icon on the top right corner to convert a video to GIF as long as it is under 6 seconds.
Oh, I’m on 399. So I guess it’s a server slide change, then.
No, it doesn’t look like a server side change, it’s been there for quite some time. Crop a video under 6 seconds and then try again.
