Chinese OEM nubia has launched the third iteration of its Red Magic gaming smartphone. The Red Magic 3 comes with a built-in cooling setup that takes smartphone gaming to a new level. The device is touted to be a daily driver apart from being a gaming-focussed smartphone. Let’s take a look at what it has in store for us:
The nubia Red Magic 3 sports a large 6.65-inch ultra-wide display bearing FHD+ resolution and HDR support. The device is fitted with an AMOLED panel on the top and boasts a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth gaming. It retains the same design as seen on the previous Red Magic smartphones. The back of the phone flaunts an RGB lighting strip which can be customised with over 16.8 million colour choices. The Red Magic 3 features touch-sensitive shoulder triggers and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that works as hardware buttons to use during gameplay. It also has a physical switch key to toggle Game Space 2.0 that is capable of launching games quickly, fine-tuning the performance and fan speeds, and monitoring the temperature. The device is IP55-rated dust- and water-resistant.
Under the hood, the Red Magic 3 is a performance powerhouse. It is powered by the latest Snapdragon 855 chipset. The device is available in three RAM and storage configurations, going all the way up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The Red Magic 3 draws its power from a mammoth 5,000mAh battery, with support for 30W fast charging. The device is equipped with active cooling technology with internal turbo fans instead of the passive cooling found on other gaming smartphones.
In the optics department, the Red Magic 3 sports a single 48MP main camera featuring a Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.7 aperture. Up front, the device is fitted with a 16MP shooter for selfies. On the software front, the Red Magic 3 runs on a near-stock Android 9 Pie.
