Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. nubia was one of the participants to withdraw out of MWC where it was supposed to unveil its flagship Red Magic 5G smartphone. The company had posted a statement on its official Weibo account announcing the cancellation of the launch. Now, nubia has released an official confirmation that the Red Magic 5G will launch on March 12th in China. The device will also arrive in global markets in the near future.
The Red Magic 5G is a gaming phone with flagship-level specifications. It is confirmed to be an industry first smartphone with a 144Hz refresh rate panel. Currently, the highest refresh rate is 120Hz offered on devices like ASUS ROG Phone 2, Galaxy S20 and others. The upcoming smartphone is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor with an integrated X55 modem for dual-mode 5G connectivity. It will come equipped with gaming-centric features like air and liquid cooling technology. The Red Magic 5G is confirmed to pack LPDDR5 RAM up to 16GB. It is also confirmed to come with 80W fast charging technology. The device is expected to sport a triple camera setup with a 64MP primary sensor.
A leaked image of the gaming smartphone revealed a Red and Blue coloured ‘X’ letter on the back panel. There is a vertically running strip in the centre with an RGB LED-lit Red Magic branding. The blue coloured side of the phone also reveals a pogo connector, a ventilation grill and a red alert slider. The Red Magic 5G is expected to come equipped with an active cooling fan solution to reduce the internal temperature
