Nubia X with Dual Displays and Snapdragon 845 Launched in China

Nubia has announced a revolutionary smartphone named Nubia X in celebration of the company’s 6th anniversary. The USP of the smartphone is that it equipped with dual displays. The smartphone also features a pair of fingerprint scanners and an impressive dual camera module.

Design and Display

The Nubia X features 3rd generation Corning Glass panels on its front and rear sides with a Series 7000 aluminum frame in between. The device measures 154.1 x 73.3 x 8.4mm and it weighs 181 grams.

Sitting at the front of the Nubia X is a 6.26-inch IPS LCD screen that offers FHD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,280 pixels, 93-percent color gamut and a screen ratio of 93.6 percent. An OLED screen measuring 5.1 inches resides on the rear side. It features HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels, 96-percent NTSC color gamut and it is equipped with eye protection mode.

The secondary screen also supports an Always-on Display for showing information such as weather, analog clock and so on. Both the displays feature a 19:9 aspect ratio.


The Nubia X is driven by the Snapdragon 845 chipset. The handset comes with 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM. It can be availed in storage choices of 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB.  The handset lacks support for external storage.

Nubia has included a 3,800mAh battery inside the device, which supports 18W fast charging. The Nubia X has been designed to support high-end gaming. The device can stay cool during intensive gaming thanks to its multi-layer graphene cooling technology. When the Nubia X is held in landscape mode, the rear display can function as left and right controllers.

The Nubia X is loaded with Nubia UI 6.0 X based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Flipping the phone around will automatically show the contents of the main display on the secondary screen.

Cameras and Connectivity

The Nubia X dual screen phone does not feature a selfie camera. The reason behind is that the company feels there is no need for it since its dual rear cameras can capture selfie shots while using the secondary display as a viewfinder. The removal of the front-facing camera allows the smartphone to offer a higher screen to body ratio.

Nubia X Cameras

The dual camera setup of the Nubia X includes an f/1.8 aperture 16-megapixel primary sensor that is coupled with a secondary 24-megapixel sensor with f/1.7 aperture. Apart from dual-tone LED flash, there is a smart softlight LED that can be used while shooting selfie images.  The photography features available on the Nubia X include AI scene recognition, AI portrait mode, PDAF and slow-motion video recording at 240 fps.

The Nubia X is equipped with two fingerprint scanners. They are placed on the left and right edges of the smartphone. Nubia claims that the fingerprint scanners can instantly unlock the Nubia X in just 0.1 seconds. It terms of connectivity, the Nubia X is enabled with features like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, v5.0 Bluetooth, GPS and USB-C. The smartphone lacks support for a 3.5mm audio jack however.

Nubia X Pricing and Release Date

The base model of the Nubia X has 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Its Deep Gray and Black Gold models are priced at 3,299 Yuan (~Rs. 35,000). Its Sea Blue version costs 3,399 Yuan (~Rs. 36,000).

The Nubia X model featuring 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage also comes in Deep Gray and Black Gold colors. These color editions are respectively priced at 3,699 Yuan (~Rs. 39,000). Its Sea Blue model carries a pricing of 3,799 Yuan (~Rs. 40,000).

The 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage version of the Nubia X comes in two colors of Black Gold and Blue Gold. These models are respectively priced at 4,199 Yuan (~Rs. 44,500) and 4,299 Yuan (~Rs. 45,500)

Leading online retailers in China have started receiving reservations for the Nubia X dual screen smartphone. The smartphone will be made available for buying beginning from 5th November. There is no word on its availability outside of China.
