Ola S1 and S1 Pro have launched in India today. It is the ride-hailing company’s first electric two-wheeler. The EV comes with a host of features and is priced aggressively. It had gone up for reservations last month.
The Ola S1 and S1 Pro will compete against other electric scooters including Aether 450X, Hero Electric Ataria, Bajaj Chetak, and others in the country. Commenting on the launch, Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said that “Both the S1 and S1 Pro will serve as the industry benchmark featuring the best design, the best tech and performance on any e-scooter in the world.”
What is the design of the Ola S1?
The Ola S1 and S1 Pro are similar in terms of design. They feature twin headlamps upfront and LED strips located below serving as indicators. There is also an LED taillight at the rear. The electric two-wheeler offers a large boot space capable of fitting two helmets. Both scooters are offered in satin, matte and glossy finishes.
What are the smart features in Ola S1?
The Ola S1 and S1 Pro come with a large 7-inch touch screen display powered by an octa-core processor and 3GB RAM. It is powered by the company’s proprietary MoveOS with Ola Moods feature that lets users customise the look and feel of the scooter including the speedometer theme and sound while riding. The electric scooter is equipped with a proximity sensor that eliminates the requirement of a key and lock. It unlocks the vehicle via a smartphone app when the user is in range.
The Ola S1 and S1 Pro feature a built-in speaker to receive calls on the go and also offers voice recognition support to complete tasks hands-free without navigating the menu. The dashboard on the electric two-wheeler also supports 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. It also packs a native navigation app to provide instant directions. Users can also create separate profiles for different riders just like creating different accounts on mobiles or laptops.
What are the performance and ride features of the Ola S1?
The Ola S1 and S1 Pro are differentiated in terms of performance. The former is claimed to offer a top speed of 90kmph and acceleration of 0-40kmph time in 3.6 seconds. It has a peak power of 8.5kW and a driving range of 121 km. On the other hand, the Ola S1 Pro is said to deliver a top speed of 115kmph with 0-40kmph acceleration in 3 seconds. This one also has a peak power of 8.5kW but the maximum battery range is 181km.
The Ola S1 and S1 Pro come with ‘Normal’ and ‘Sports’ riding modes. The latter also includes an additional ‘Hyper’ riding mode which accelerates the S1 Pro from 0-60kmph in only 5 seconds. Both variants also feature the ‘Reverse mode’ and ‘Hill Hold’ feature with the latter automatically detecting sloped surfaces and holding the scooter in position without needing the rider to brake or use their feet.
How can you charge the battery of Ola S1?
Both the Ola S1 and S1 Pro are powered by a battery capacity of 3.92kWh. They feature Battery Management System that is said to actively monitor the battery for optimal durability, performance, range, and safety. The electric scooter is claimed to charge completely in 6 hours at home with the bundled 750W charger provided by the company. The battery can top up to 50 percent in 18 minutes using Ola Hypercharger.
What are the prices of the Ola S1 and S1 Pro scooters?
Ola says that the prices of the S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters will be lower in states that provide FAME II subsidies. Take a look at the prices of the scooters in the table below.

The S1 is offered in five colours including Porcelain White, Marshmellow, Coral Glam, Jet Black, and Neon Mint while the S1 Pro, in addition to the S1’s colours is also available in Liquid Silver, Millenial Pink, Matt Black, Midnight Blue and Anthracite Grey colours.
Both the Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters will be available for purchase from September 8th with deliveries commencing from October. There is also an EMI option starting at Rs 2,999 per month.
