OnePlus 10R is rumoured to launch in the second quarter of this year. The news comes from publication Android Authority who reveal the smartphone’s specifications, availability, as well as pricing.
OnePlus launched its flagship OnePlus 10 Pro in China earlier this month. The brand also announced the OnePlus 9RT in India. The rumoured OnePlus 10R is expected to arrive as the successor to last year’s OnePlus 9R. If you are unaware, the R series smartphones are sold in a select few markets.
OnePlus 10R launch timeline, key specifications tipped
Android Authority reports that the OnePlus 10R could debut in the global markets alongside the launch of the standard and Pro variants in early Q2. The upcoming OnePlus 10R will reportedly be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 SoC whereas the vanilla is tipped to launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors. The OnePlus 10 Pro, launched earlier this month, uses Qualcomm’s newest flagship mobile processor.
OnePlus has used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors for a long time. Last year, the brand switched to MediaTek chipsets with the Dimensity 1200 powered Nord 2. The Dimensity 9000 competes against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, hence the 10R with MediaTek chipset could also debut as a flagship offering. The report also reveals the reason why OnePlus isn’t incorporating the Dimensity 9000 in the standard OnePlus 10. The processor lacks mmWave that the US networks rely on for 5G connectivity.
Apart from the processor, the OnePlus 10R is said to come with a 120Hz AMOLED display and atleast 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
The OnePlus 10R is tipped to launch at the end of the second quarter of 2022 i.e. June. This is because of the delay in the launch of 9RT in India and to give the smartphone some room to breathe. The smartphone will reportedly be available in China and India.
