OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro to feature 120Hz displays, OnePlus 8 Lite to arrive with Dimensity 1000 SoC

Yesterday it was reported that OnePlus’s upcoming flagship will be unveiled in the second week of April. The OnePlus 8 series has been subject to a lot of leaks and rumours. The smartphone will arrive in a standard, Pro and Lite variant. All three devices have appeared in leaked renders giving us a look at them. The Chinese smartphone maker is set to re-enter the mid-range category with the OnePlus 8 Lite. Now 91mobiles has received specifications of the upcoming OnePlus 8 series from notable tipster Ishan Agarwal. Additionally, there is also information on the OnePlus 8 Lite’s pricing and availability. 

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro specifications and features

Both the standard and Pro variants of OnePlus 8 will sport the brand’s 120Hz Fluid Display technology that was announced in January this year. Both the phones will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. They will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 865 processor coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. The OnePlus 8 Pro will come with dual-mode 5G connectivity. It will reportedly feature 30W reverse wireless charging support. Notably, in January, the brand had become a member of Wireless Power Consortium. It’s unclear whether the standard OnePlus 8 will also get 5G and wireless charging support. 

We already know that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will come with a punch-hole camera cutout and a curved screen. Both the devices will feature an AMOLED display with the standard version offering a 6.5-inch screen and the latter having a slightly larger 6.65-inch screen. The OnePlus 8 is said to have a triple rear camera setup comprising of a 48MP main sensor, 16MP secondary shooter and a third 2MP lens. On the other hand, the Pro variant will be fitted with an additional ToF sensor. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will be backed by a 4,000mAh and 4,500mAh battery unit, respectively. Both devices will run Android 10 out of the box.

OnePlus 8 Lite specifications and pricing

Earlier in January this year, the OnePlus 8 Lite was leaked in live images. The smartphone’s renders revealed a centrally placed punch-hole selfie camera. The Lite variant will reportedly feature a 90Hz refresh rate screen measuring 6.4-inches. The display will be fitted with an AMOLED panel on the top. The report states that the OnePlus 8 Lite may be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000 processor. It will be available in 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB configurations. The OnePlus 8 Lite is also expected to sport a triple camera setup comprising of 48MP + 16MP + 12MP sensors. However, the vertically stacked camera module will be placed at the top left corner instead of the centre as seen on previous OnePlus smartphones. The OnePlus 8 Lite may be equipped with a 4,000mAh battery unit with 30T Warp charging support. 

The report claims that the OnePlus 8 Lite will reportedly cost GBP 400 (~Rs 37,500). The smartphone is expected to carry a lower price tag in India. It will be available in the country as well as worldwide by July. To recall, the OnePlus 7T retails at a lower price (~Rs 37,500) in India compared to UK where it is priced at GBP 549 (~Rs 51,000)
