OnePlus 8, 8T, 8 Pro and OnePlus 9R get OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12

OnePlus 8 series and OnePlus 9R are now receiving stable OxygenOS 12 update based on the latest Android 12. The OnePlus 8 series includes the standard OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro (review), and OnePlus 8T (review). The latest software update is released for Indian and global users.

The OxygenOS 12 update is rolled out in a phased manner and should reach every user in the coming weeks. As per the changelog, the latest software version comes with a host of new features. Last October, OnePlus released the open beta build of OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro.

Four OnePlus phones are now receiving stable OxygenOS 12

The build number of the stable OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 8 series is C.11 while for the OnePlus 9R, it is C.14. The package names for the Indian users of the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T are IN2011_11.C.11 (IN), IN2021_11.C.11 (IN), and KB2001_11.C.11 (IN) respectively. For North American users, the package names for the same devices are IN2015_11.C.11 (NA), IN2025_11.C.11 (NA) and KB2001_11.C.11 (IN). 

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 9R’s OxygenOS 12 update package name is LE2101_11.C.14 (IN). 

OxygenOS 12 features

The OxyegnOS 12 comes with a refreshed UI and optimised desktop icons with improved textures. The update also fixes various issues like abnormal closure of background applications, screen not responding when receiving notifications, and lens permissions when using third-party camera apps. The OnePlus Shelf feature now gets more customisation options with the OxygenOS 12. Users can customise cards with different sizes and shapes. 

The OxygenOS 12 introduces three adjustable levels of darkness including Gentle, Medium, and Enhanced. It optimises Canvas AOD 2.0 with new brushes and line colours for customising the lock screen experience. The latest software update also features a redesigned Zen Mode that provides a sense of security and mental comfort through visual changes. There is Work-Life Balance 2.0 that lets users manage and switch between work and personal accounts. 

OxygenOS 12 also packs an India-exclusive feature called Scout that is a one-stop place for searching anything on the device like contacts, documents, music tracks, and more.
