Earlier this week, OnePlus launched its latest flagship, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro globally. At the event, OnePlus only revealed the US pricing of these smartphones, and they were a point of contention for many including OnePlus fans. Not only are the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro the most powerful devices from the brand yet, but the most expensive ones too, with the top-end model barely missing the $1,000 mark. However, OnePlus India recently tweeted that the Indian pricing will be lower than US prices, which comes as welcome news. Now, the latest smartphones have been launched in China and the pricing gives us an idea of what to expect when they are launched in India.
OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro price in China
In China, the base OnePlus model starts from RMB 3,999 (~Rs 43,300), and the OnePlus 8 Pro has been priced from RMB 5,399 (~Rs 58,400). These pricings are significantly cheaper than the US price, where the OnePlus 8 starts at $699 (~Rs 53,200) while the OnePlus 8 Pro will set you back by $899 (~Rs 68,400) for the base variant. This fluctuation in pricing can be attributed to various reasons like logistics costs, import duty and others. While the pricing in India is expected to be similar to that of China, we can expect a slightly higher price tag due to the GST hike on mobile phones from 12 percent to 18 percent and deprecating Rupee against Dollar. We can expect the OnePlus 8 to start from Rs 45,000 and OnePlus 8 Pro could touch Rs 60,000 mark for the base variant.

Coming to the specifications, the OnePlus 8 series feature Fluid AMOLED displays with the standard variant shipping with a 90Hz FHD+ panel and Pro model flaunting a QHD+ 120Hz panel. The new phones boot the latest OxygenOS based on Android 10 with features like Dark Theme 2.0, Stadia support, integrated Alexa and more. In the camera department, the standard model features a 48MP + 16MP + 2MP setup, while the Pro variant gets 48MP + 48MP + 8MP + 5MP quad-camera module. Both handsets have 16MP selfie camera.
