Exclusive: OnePlus 8 Pro camera specs include 48MP IMX689 main sensor, 30x digital zoom and more

OnePlus is getting ready to launch its first set of smartphones for this calendar year. This time, the brand is expected to launch three devices, the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro  and the mid-range OnePlus 8 Lite. We have already seen a ton of leaks and rumours about these phones, and also have a fair idea of their design. We recently saw an official render of the OnePlus 8 Pro in a green paint job, and its key specs were also leaked alongside. Pricebaba has now obtained the complete camera specifications of the OnePlus 8 Pro, in collaboration with tipster Ishan Agarwal.

The OnePlus 8 Pro will feature quad cameras, including two 48MP sensors

We already know from the previous specs reveal that the OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a quad-camera module with two 48MP sensors, backed by an 8MP sensor and a 5MP lens. According to our source, the primary 48MP camera will make use of a Sony IMX689 sensor (f/1.78), which we have already seen on the OPPO Find X2 Pro.

The second camera in the lineup is a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, which was featured on the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro as the primary camera. However, this time around, the IMX586 is an ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. There’s an 8MP telephoto lens (f/2.44) offering 3x optical zoom, along with 30x digital zoom and a 5MP colour filter. Agarwal also says that the upcoming flagship will get improved camera features like all-new night portrait mode, a new feature called ‘3-HDR’ video, cinematic effects and improved OIS as well as EIS.

OnePlus is expected to launch its next set of smartphones in April, but we don’t yet know if the launch will go as planned due to the coronavirus pandemic that has several countries on lockdown.
