OnePlus 8 Pro live image reveals 120Hz refresh rate and punch-hole display

Last week, OnePlus had announced its 120Hz fluid display technology. The Chinese smartphone maker is expected to unveil its flagship OnePlus 8 series in the first half of 2020. Rumours and leaks about the brand’s upcoming lineup have been doing the rounds on the internet. Now a new leak from Tech True shows the OnePlus 8 Pro in a live image. It falls in line with the smartphone’s renders that were leaked back in October last year. The live image reveals the OnePlus 8 Pro’s display with three screen settings options.

The leak suggests that the OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a 120Hz refresh rate panel. Users will also be able to switch between 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rates as per their requirement. Below the options, there’s a note that states, ‘the higher the screen refresh rate, the smoother the screen experience.’ It’s worth noting that a higher refresh rate will consume more battery.

Another noticeable feature from the leaked image is the presence of a punch-hole cutout at the top left corner. Past reports have hinted that the OnePlus 8 series will come with a punch-hole display and ditch the pop-up camera module this year. The leaked image also shows the OnePlus 8 Pro with a curved screen and physical button placement similar to the OnePlus 7T Pro.

Recently, the OnePlus 8 Pro was listed on Geekbench. It is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 865 SoC and pack a whopping 12GB RAM. The smartphone is expected to feature a quad-camera setup comprising of either a 64MP or 108MP sensor.

OnePlus has already confirmed that it will use the 120Hz refresh rate display in its smartphones this year. So it’s likely that the OnePlus 8 Pro could debut with the higher refresh rate, while the standard and Lite variants come with 90Hz refresh rates.
