OnePlus 8 leaked renders suggest punch-hole display, wireless charging support

Just over a week ago, OnePlus announced its latest smartphone, the OnePlus 7T. Apart from flagship specs, the handset features a round-shaped camera housing for its triple cameras and it features a waterdrop notch display. The OnePlus 7T has just gone on sale, and now popular tipster @OnLeaks has shared renders of the upcoming OnePlus 8 phone that will go official next year. The renders reveal that the smartphone will sport a punch-hole display with a vertical triple camera system. Also, it could be the first OnePlus smartphone with wireless charging support.

OnePlus 8 renders

The renders of the OnePlus 8 are based on the dimensions and engineering schematics that were leaked through an insider from OnePlus. The new images show that the OnePlus 8 features a curved display with a punch-hole at the top-left corner. The smartphone measures around 160.2 x 72.9 x 8.1mm. The thickness of the device increases to 9.3mm at the rear camera bump. The handset could be featuring an AMOLED display of 6.5 inches.

Since OnePlus has already confirmed that its future smartphones will offer a 90Hz refresh rate, the OnePlus 8 is also expected to deliver the same. As mentioned above, the OnePlus 8 will support wireless charging, however, there is no information yet on the wireless charging speeds it will support.

OnePlus 8 renders

The rear shell of the phone is equipped with a vertical triple camera system like the OnePlus 7T Pro. The configurations of the cameras are currently under wraps. It remains to be seen whether the OnePlus 8 will retain the 48MP primary sensor or switch to a 64MP one.

The bottom edge of the OnePlus 8 has a SIM tray, a USB-C port and a slit for the external speaker. The power button and alert slider can be seen on the right spine of the device. The volume rocker is positioned on the left edge.

There are no details available yet on the specs of the OnePlus 8. However, it is likely to feature the Snapdragon 865 which is the rumored name of Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset. It will come preloaded with Android 10 and the latest version of OxygenOS. At present, there is no information on the launch timeframe of the smartphone. The OnePlus 7 series had gone official in India in May this year. Hence, there is a possibility that OnePlus 8 along with the more advanced OnePlus 8 Pro in the same month in 2020.
