OnePlus 9 5G and OnePlus 9 Pro 5G are said to be upcoming OnePlus phones that may go official in mid-March 2021. It is speculated that the lineup also features a third model called the OnePlus 9E. Just as Samsung and Xiaomi are expected to announce their next flagship phones earlier than before, OnePlus is also rumoured to have adopted the same strategy of its OnePlus 9 5G series.
In November, popular tipster OnLeaks shared the CAD renders of the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G. Now a fresh report by PhoneArena that consists of leaks from different sources including reliable tipster Max Jambor has revealed the hands-on shots of a prototype unit of the OnePlus 9 5G.
OnePlus 9 5G live shots and leaked specifications
What has surfaced in the new images appears to be a late-stage prototype of the OnePlus 9 5G with the final design. The rear side of the phone has a protruding camera module that includes two large-sized cameras and a smaller lens along with an unusually positioned an LED flash. The “Ultra Shot” branding can also be seen inside the camera housing. Since it is a prototype unit, it has a different logo instead of the usual OnePlus logo.
The publication shared some of the specs of the OnePlus 9 5G based on the information found inside the device. It mentioned that the pre-installed software on the device seems to be showing incorrect information about the rear cameras.
The 12-megapixel and 4-megapixel resolutions listed for rear and selfie cameras could mean that the device has a 48-megapixel primary camera and 16-megapixel front camera. It is speculated that the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G will have a similar camera ,pdule with an additional fourth lens.
Moving to the front side of the OnePlus 9 5G reveals a flat AMOLED screen with a punch-hole design. The built-in software has revealed that the screen supports a full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display design is identical to the OnePlus 8T, but it appears to feature slimmer bezels.
The publication has learned through its source that the OnePlus 9 5G has a metal frame, likely made from aluminum. The positions of the Alter Slider, volume buttons, power key, and ports appear to be unchanged. The leak has an image of the single nano-SIM card tray with a rubber seal surrounding it, which indicates it will offer some level of water and dust resistance.
The model number of the OnePlus 9 5G was found to be “LE2117.” The preinstalled software also revealed that the device runs the OxygenOS based Android 11, 128GB of native storage, and a ‘Lahaina’ codenamed chipset, which is the recently announced Snapdragon 888 5G flagship SoC.
The handset is backed by a 4,500mAh battery, but there is no word on its fast-charging capabilities. OnePlus introduced the 65W Warp Charge technology with the OnePlus 8T, it is likely that the OnePlus 9 5G series may support the same charging speeds.
