OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro users in India are now receiving OxygenOS 12 update. In October, the company had released OxygenOS 12 open beta for the users of OnePlus 9 series and now, it has rolled out the stable version of the software. The major highlight of the new software update is that it is based on the all-new Android 12 OS.
The company is yet to share the release notes of the OxygenOS 12 upgrade for the OnePlus 9 series. However, some users have managed to install the stable OxygenOS 12 update, claims XDA Developers. According to the publication, the new update is similar to the Android 12 developer preview build that was rolled out back in September. The publication also shared some of the screenshots to showcase what to expect from the new update
OnePlus 9, 9 Pro OxygenOS 12 update
Few months ago, OnePlus had confirmed that it will be unifying OxygenOS and ColorOS. The previously released Android 12 previews for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro were based on ColorOS. However, the stable edition of the OxygenOS 12 that is now being rolled out for users of the OnePlus 9 series still appears to have the elements of the OxygenOS. The update is now available for users in India, and it is also expected to arrive for users in the EU and global regions soon.
The OxygenOS 12 comes with updated icons, textures, and animations. The OnePlus shelf, a feature that allows users to access certain apps like notes, toolbox and so on, is now accessible from the notifications bar. It includes three new cards such as Earphone Control Card, OnePlus Scout for universal search, and a OnePlus Watch Card for checking fitness data.
Work-Life Balance, which allows users to easily toggle between Work and Life modes, is now easily accessible through Quick Settings. Each mode can be activated by time, Wi-Fi network, or location. In addition, each mode can also be personalised with app-specific notification settings. Some other additions in the OxygenOS 12 update include new customisations for Canvas Always-On Display and support for pinch-to-zoom layouts while scrolling in the Gallery app.
OnePlus 9, 9 Pro OxygenOS 12 update – how to install?
The OxygenOS 12 update has arrived as an OTA update for some users of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. Alternatively, users can navigate to Settings > System > System Update to check manually check the availability of the OxygenOS 12 update. Users who wish to sideload the update can visit the XDA link (above) and select the appropriate package to install the OxygenOS 12 upgrade.

The OnePlus 9 (review) has a 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display that offers Full HD+ resolution. On the other side, the OnePlus 9 Pro (review) has a larger 6.7-inch Fluid2 AMOLED LTPO display that offers a Quad HD+ resolution. Both phones support a 120Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The OnePlus 9 duo have a 16-megapixel front camera.
The OnePlus 9’s rear camera setup has a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel monochrome camera. The OnePlus 9 Pro has a quad-camera unit featuring an extra OIS 8-megapixel telephoto snapper. In addition, the main camera of the 9 Pro carries support for OIS.
The Snapdragon 888 powers both devices and they are equipped with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Both phones offer up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. They are packed with a 4,500mAh battery that carries support for 65W fast charging. At present, the OnePlus 9 starts at Rs 44,999, while the 9 Pro carries a starting price of Rs 59,999.
