  • OnePlus will be launching an upgraded 50W wireless charger as well

The OnePlus 9 Pro will feature 50W wireless charging, Pricebaba has learned from reliable tipster Ishan Agarwal. In addition, OnePlus will also be launching a new 50W wireless charger. The OnePlus 9 Pro will be a significant upgrade over the OnePlus 8 Pro (review), which supports 30W wireless charging speeds.

The OnePlus 8 Pro (pictured above) supports 30W wireless charging

The OnePlus 8 Pro was the first OnePlus smartphone to support wireless charging, and OnePlus had launched the Warp Charge 30 wireless charger alongside. Based on Agarwal’s tip, we can expect the company to launch a Warp Charge 50 wireless charger along with the OnePlus 9 series.

Back in January, tipster Max Jambor had claimed that the OnePlus 9 Pro would come with 45W wireless charging, and support reverse wireless charging as well, albeit with limited speeds. Jambor revealed that the vanilla OnePlus 9 would also come with wireless charging, although the supported speeds were not mentioned.

The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro were recently spotted on the 3C certification website, which revealed that both phones will come with 65W fast chargers in the box. However, third-party USB Power Data Objects (PDO) and USB Programmable Power Supply (PPS) will only be able to provide up to 45W power.

OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro specifications and features

OnePlus has confirmed several features of the OnePlus 9 series, including LPDDR5 RAM, a 120Hz display, 50MP IMX789 primary camera, Sony IMX766 ultra-wide camera and 4K 120fps video recording. The company has entered into a three-year partnership with Hasselblad to co-develop the cameras of its flagships.

As for the rumoured specifications, the OnePlus 9 Pro is expected to feature a 6.7-inch QHD+ display, while the OnePlus 9 will feature a 6.55-inch FHD+ display. Both phones will feature the Snapdragon 888 SoC, 4,500mAh batteries and run Android 11. While the OnePlus 9 Pro will offer quad rear cameras, the OnePlus 9 could come with triple rear cameras, sharing a few sensors with the Pro variant.

The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are launching globally on March 23rd, and the event will be livestreamed at 7.30pm in India.
