- OnePlus 9 Pro will come with a Fluid 2.0 display
- It supports an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz to 1Hz
- It consumes less 50 percent battery life than a regular AMOLED panel
The OnePlus 9 Pro will be equipped with a new kind of screen called the Fluid Display 2.0, OnePlus has confirmed. It will consume less power as it will carry support for an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz to 1Hz.
OnePlus made a shift from LCD to OLED panels on the OnePlus 3 back in 2016. The OnePlus 7 Pro that went official in 2019 came with the first Fluid Display that offers a 90Hz refresh rate and QHD+ resolution. With Fluid Display 2.0, the OnePlus 9 Pro will not only offer the smoothness of a 120Hz refresh rate, but also will consume less power.
OnePlus 9 Pro confirmed display specifications
To reduce the problem of power leakage on the OnePlus 9 Pro’s AMOLED panel, OnePlus has incorporated Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO). This makes it possible for the OLED panel to consume 50 percent less power.
The company claims that the OnePlus 9 Pro is the first phone to offer an adaptive refresh rate from 120Hz to 1Hz. This feature is dubbed as Smart 120Hz. When the phone displays static content like photos, the refresh rate is scaled down to 1Hz to save power. While gaming or watching videos, the refresh rate can reach as high as 120Hz. The OnePlus 9 Pro’s screen offers up to 6x touch responses for gaming, which helps in reducing latency by 25 to 30ms. In other words, the screen will offer better reaction times in combat games.
Apart from the 120Hz refresh rate, it will carry support for QHD+ resolution, 10-bit color depth, a maximum brightness of 1,300 nits, HDR10+, automatic color temperature adjustment, and MEMC which enables artificial motion smoothing. The display has earned the highest rating of A+ from DisplayMate, which is a leading evaluator for smartphone displays.
