OnePlus has confirmed that it will be launching the OnePlus 9 series 5G smartphones on March 23rd at 7.30pm in India. Starting with the OnePlus 9 lineup, the company signed up a three-year partnership with well-known camera brand Hasselblad to co-develop camera systems for forthcoming flagship devices from OnePlus.

Rumours surrounding the OnePlus 9 series have revealed that the lineup will include three handsets namely, the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and an affordable model called OnePlus 9E or the OnePlus 9R. Leaked shots of the OnePlus 9 Pro that appeared in the recent past revealed that its quad-camera module will carry Hasselblad branding.

Hasselblad is the world’s leading brand when it comes to digital medium format cameras and lenses. During OnePlus’ three-year partnership with the Swedish camera manufacturer, it will be investing $170 million in a bid to offer a significantly improved camera experience to its users.
OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 9 series will be equipped with a custom Sony IMX789 lens, which will be the most advanced camera made available on a OnePlus smartphone as per the brand. A panoramic camera with a 140-degree FOV, T-lens technology for fastest focus on the selfie camera, and a freeform lens are some of the new photography features that will be available on the OnePlus 9 lineup.
The OnePlus 9 series of smartphones will be able to capture natural-looking photos with advanced colour calibration through a new solution dubbed as “Natural Color Calibration with Hasselblad.” There will be a new feature called the Hasselblad Pro Mode with a new user interface based on image processing software by Hasselblad. It will offer professional photography functions such as ISO adjustment, focus, exposure times, white balance, and so on for a fine-tuned photography experience.
The OnePlus 9 will be able to shoot 12-bit RAW photos, which will be up to 64-times more colorful than before. The Hasselblad Camera for Mobile will deliver enhanced HDR video recording and it will bring support for shooting 4K videos at 120fps and 8K videos at 30fps.
