OnePlus 9RT is set to launch in China this week. It will arrive as an upgraded version of the OnePlus 9R that debuted earlier this year alongside the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. The smartphone is expected to make its debut in India this month as well, and will be the last flagship launch by the brand this year, if various reports are to be believed.
Alongside the OnePlus 9RT smartphone, the Chinese brand will also announce the OnePlus Buds Z2 TWS earbuds. They will arrive as the successor to last year’s Buds Z. OnePlus 9RT: launch date, event start time, how to watch livestream
The OnePlus 9RT will be launched in China on October 13th at 7.30pm local time (5.30 pm IST). Viewers can tune into the launch live stream on OnePlus’s China website as well as the brand’s official Weibo handle.
The OnePlus 9RT is also expected to arrive in India later this month as per past reports. However, the brand is yet to announce anything official about its existence and launch date in the country.
OnePlus 9RT: expected price
We will learn about the OnePlus 9RT’s pricing at the launch event this Wednesday. As per Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the smartphone will reportedly start at RMB 2,000 (~Rs 23,200) and go up to RMB 3,000 (~Rs 34,700) for the top-end variant. In India, we expect the smartphone to cost between Rs 30,000 – Rs 40,000, going by the OnePlus 9R’s launch price.
OnePlus 9RT: sale date in China
The OnePlus 9RT will go up for pre-orders on the same day i.e. October 13th as its launch in China. Interested customers can pre-book the smartphone through online retailers JD.com and Suning.com. The OnePlus 9RT’s first sale will commence on October 19th.

Display and design
According to the Weibo teasers, the OnePlus 9RT will come with Samsung’s E4 AMOLED panel with a flat-screen. It will feature a 120Hz refresh rate and 600Hz touch sampling rate.
Design-wise, the OnePlus 9RT looks slightly thicker compared to the OnePlus 9R. Like previous OnePlus phones, the alert slider and power buttons are located on the right side while the volume rocker button is on the left edge of the device. Compared to the 9R, the upcoming offering will also feature a realigned rectangular camera module with vertically stacked sensors and an LED flash beside it. The OnePlus 9RT will come in Hacker Black and Nano Silver colour options.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 9RT will house a Snapdragon 888 processor. This is an upgrade over the 9R that is powered by Snapdragon 870. The upcoming smartphone is teased to pack LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage technology along with 7GB expandable virtual memory for additional needs. It will be backed by a 4,500mAh battery unit with support for 65W fast charging which is the same as the OnePlus 9R.
Vapour cooling system
Internally, the OnePlus 9RT teasers reveal that the device will also be equipped with a five-dimensional vapour cooling chamber for heat dissipation. The brand says that the upcoming device has a heat dissipation area of 19067.44 mm².
OnePlus 9RT: other specifications and features
Apart from the confirmed specifications, the OnePlus 9RT is expected to come with a 6.55-inch punch-hole screen integrated with a fingerprint scanner. A 50MP Sony IMX766 primary unit has been confirmed for the triple camera setup, while the other two sensors are expected to be a 16MP ultra-wide lens and 5MP macro or 2MP mono shooter.
The OnePlus 9RT is expected to come in 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB RAM and storage configurations. It is also rumoured to run ColorOS 12 based on Android 11 out of the box. The OnePlus 9RT is tipped to come in an additional Blue colour variant.
