OnePlus 9T will reportedly not be launching this year

  • OnePlus 9T has reportedly been cancelled
  • The news has come from a reliable tipster
  • Users will likely have to wait for the OnePlus 10 instead

The OnePlus 9T will not be launching this year, claims reliable tipster Max Jambor. OnePlus has been launching two sets of flagship phones since 2017. It has been announcing flagships in the first half of the year, followed by new flagships with incremental updates in the second half.

While Jambor did not mention anything about the OnePlus 9T Pro, it is likely that the company will not launch any T-series device given that it announced only the OnePlus 8T last year. The tipster believes that there is no need for the OnePlus 9T this year as the OnePlus 9 (review) and the OnePlus 9 Pro (review) are still good flagships.

OnePlus 9T series seemingly cancelled

The OnePlus 9 series already offers top-notch features including 120Hz AMOLED displays, 65W fast charging, Snapdragon 888 chips, and Hasselblad-branded cameras. Unless there is an opportunity to offer huge improvements, the company may not release the OnePlus 9T series this year. There is also a possibility that the company may have cancelled the 9T due to the ongoing chip shortage issue.

Last year, OnePlus did not announce the OnePlus 8T Pro alongside the OnePlus 8T. The company reasoned that this was because the OnePlus 8 Pro had no room for an upgrade.

The news about the axing of the OnePlus 9T has come as a surprise as the rumour mill had been leaking its specs for the past few weeks. Recent reports claimed that the OnePlus 9T will be equipped with a Samsung E4 AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display, 108-megapixel Hasselblad quad-camera system, and ColorOS 11. It remains to be seen if these features make an appearance on next year’s OnePlus 10 series.
