OnePlus Concept One smartphone with “invisible camera” teased, to be showcased at CES 2020

Last month, OnePlus announced that it will be attending the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) for the first time in 2020. The company recently also revealed that it will be introducing the OnePlus Concept One smartphone at the event. Today, the brand has shared the first teaser of the device, which has revealed that it will be an interesting product. As per the teaser, the OnePlus Concept One phone will have a screen that will be more curved than the one on the OnePlus 7 Pro. The curved screen will be surrounded by a gold-painted metal frame, which feature a textured Alert Slider.

However, the aforementioned features will not be the most interesting aspect of the OnePlus Concept One. The main highlight of the phone will be a triple invisible primary camera system at the rear. The invisible illusion for the cameras will be made utilising a colour-shifting glass technology. The three cameras will be placed vertically alongside the LED flash. The OnePlus logo will be placed below the invisible camera module.

The invisible camera effect of the OnePlus Concept One smartphone will be achieved by using an electrochromic sheet of glass, which will cover the camera array. This glass will switch between tinted and opaque effect with an electrical signal, which will allow the device to hide the cameras without a mechanical cover. OnePlus hasn’t shared any other details about the OnePlus Concept One at the moment.

Notably, OnePlus is working with McLaren to integrate the invisible camera tech into the OnePlus Concept One. The luxury carmaker uses an electrochromic glass to offer an option for the sunroofs of its high-end cars. After the OnePlus Concept One, the same tech can also be expected to be available in future OnePlus smartphones as well. We will have more details in a matter of days so stay tuned.
