OnePlus foldable phone is reportedly in development. The device is said to be a copy of OPPO’s Find N, which was not launched in India or other international markets. The information has been shared by tipster Yogesh Brar.

For those unaware, OPPO and OnePlus (along with Realme and Vivo) are owned by BBK Electronics. Hence it makes sense for OnePlus to launch a foldable smartphone that is similar to the OPPO Find N that debuted in December last year. However, there is no information regarding the launch timeline of OnePlus’s foldable offering at the moment.
OnePlus working on a foldable smartphone
As per past reports, OnePlus is tipped to launch five smartphones this year, however, the list doesn’t include the brand’s first foldable device. Since OPPO Find N’s debut in December last year, the device is yet to make its way into the global market. It is only limited to China. Another BBK Electronics-owned brand – Vivo – is set to launch its first foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold in the home country on April 11th.
This leaves only OnePlus and Realme without a foldable smartphone in their product portfolios. OnePlus could also bring its foldable smartphone to the global market, unlike OPPO. OPPO has already announced a tighter integration with OnePlus and OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau was directly involved in the development of Find N. Hence, OnePlus planning a foldable smartphone based on OPPO Find N should not come as a surprise.
In the past, OnePlus and OPPO have launched smartphones with quite a few identical specifications with the latter also announcing a partnership with Hasselblad for its Find X5 series. Apart from this, we don’t have any additional information when it comes to the core specifications of this alleged foldable smartphone. It will, however, be interesting to see if OnePlus tweaks the design any further to resemble its own identity.
