Last month, OnePlus introduced its cheapest smartphones called Nord N10 5G and Nord N100 in Europe. However, both devices won’t be coming to India. OnePlus has a solid track record of rolling out timely updates for its devices. The OnePlus Nord N10 5G and Nord N100 ship with OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10 out of the box.

However, a OnePlus spokesperson revealed to Android Central that the Nord N10 5G and Nord N100 will receive just one major Android update. So it’s likely that the phones won’t receive software updates beyond Android 11.
The statement reads, ‘The Nord N10 5G and N100 will receive one major Android update and a total of two years of security updates. The plan for these two devices aligns with industry standards for smartphones in more affordable price ranges. As always, we will continue listening to feedback from our users and looking for ways to improve the software experience for all OnePlus devices.’
Usually, smartphone makers offer two years of OS updates and three years of security patches. But with the Nord N10 5G and Nord N100, OnePlus will only be offering one OS update and two years of security updates. This puts OnePlus alongside Motorola in terms of policy for OS updates.
OnePlus’s decision seems to be a letdown for customers buying the Nord N10 5G and Nord N100. It would have been more acceptable if the smartphones shipped with the current Android 11 version. The brand’s Nord lineup already includes three devices and a fourth model called Nord SE is tipped to arrive next year.
