OnePlus Open launch date has emerged in a new report by SmartPrix. The publication has claimed that a tipster has learned from sources within the brand that the OnePlus Open will be announced on August 29th, 2023. Soon after the publication made this claim, Max Jambor, who is known for accurate OnePlus leaks, also tweeted that the OnePlus foldable would be announced on the said date.
Initial reports referred to the device with tentative names, such as OnePlus V Fold and OnePlus Fold. However, a recent report claimed that the device will be called the OnePlus Open when it debuts in the market. The same device or its tweaked version is expected to launch in the Chinese market with the OPPO Find N3 moniker. While the N3 is said to remain exclusive to the Chinese market, the OnePlus Open is expected to release in multiple markets, including India. According to reports, the OnePlus Open is rumoured to feature an impressive 7.8-inch QHD+ foldable screen on the inside and a 6.3-inch FHD+ display on the outside. Both AMOLED panels are expected to offer a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, the OnePlus Open is said to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It is speculated that the device might even include an overclocked version of the chip, operating at 3.36GHz. The powerful SoC is likely to be paired with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and offer up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The rear camera setup of the OnePlus Open is said to include a pair of 48-megapixel sensors, serving as the primary shooter and the ultra-wide sensor, accompanied by a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera to complete the triple camera arrangement. On the inside, it may feature a 20-megapixel camera, and it could be fitted with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
To keep users powered throughout the day, the device is said to be equipped with a robust 4,800mAh battery pack, supporting 67W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It is expected to run on OxygenOS Fold, an optimised version of OxygenOS 13.1 tailored for foldable devices, layered on top of the Android 13 OS. For enhanced security, a side-facing fingerprint scanner is likely to be included.
