OnePlus Open could be the final marketing name of OnePlus’ first foldable phone, claims Max Jambor, who is known for accurate OnePlus leaks. To recall, during the OnePlus 11 launch event earlier this year, the brand confirmed that it would announce its first foldable phone in the third quarter of this year. Later, the brand confirmed it would be announced in August.
Ahead of the expected launch, the rumour mill has already leaked a lot of information about the specifications of the device, but its name has remained under wraps. The rumour mill was referring to the device as the OnePlus Fold or the OnePlus V Fold. However, it now appears that the OnePlus Open is the official name of the device.

According to the tipster, the OnePlus Open was patented under a couple of other names, such as OnePlus Prime, OnePlus Wing, OnePlus Peak, and OnePlus Edge. It seems that the company has finally decided to go with the OnePlus Open name for its first foldable phone.
Most foldable phones available in the market have “Fold” in their names, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, OPPO N2 Fold, and so on. While the OnePlus Open name sounds a bit weird, it makes sense since it is all about opening the device to access its larger foldable screen.
OnePlus Open specifications (rumoured)
Previous reports have revealed that the OnePlus Open will come with a 7.8-inch foldable AMOLED display offering a 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, along with a secondary 6.3-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and feature a 4,800mAh battery with 67W fast charging.
The device may offer 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, although other configurations are unknown. The OnePlus Fold could sport a 32-megapixel front camera, a 20-megapixel internal camera, and a Hasselblad-optimised rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 64-megapixel telephoto snapper. It will run on Android 13 OS with the OxygenOS 13.1.1 UI on top.
