OnePlus seems to be working on foldable smartphone hints Pete Lau

  • Vivo is set to launch a new Y-series smartphone
  • The Y22s 4G’s renders and full specifications have leaked online
  • It will arrive as the successor to the Vivo Y21s 4G

OnePlus is expected to launch a foldable smartphone soon. The company’s CEO Pete Lau recently took to Twitter asking his followers about what the two shared pictures in his tweet resemble.

The pictures shared by Lau in his tweet highlight none other than a foldable smartphone’s hinges. This hints at the brand’s plans of diving in to the foldable segment. In the last few weeks, we have seen the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4, Motorola Razr 2022, and Xiaomi MIX Fold 2.

OnePlus’s foldable smartphone

To jog your memory, OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau oversaw the development of OPPO’s Find N folding smartphone that debuted last year. Lau’s tweet doesn’t mention any concrete details about the brand’s first foldable phone. The second image shows the foldable phone’s hinges that could possibly be employed by OnePlus in the device.

As per past reports, OnePlus is expected to launch its foldable smartphone next year as the brand has already launched two flagships. However, it may showcase the device this year as well. The foldable phone is tipped to run on Android 12L-based OxygenOS out of the box. There are also reports that the OnePlus Fold could come identical to the OPPO Find N.

Currently, Samsung dominates the foldable smartphone market. Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, and Huawei also offer foldable phones but they are mostly limited to the Chinese market. It remains to be seen whether OnePlus will launch its foldable phone globally and compete against Samsung.
