With the rise of competition from brands like Apple, Google, and Xiaomi who are going an extra mile for luring in customers, OnePlus has stepped up its game in the post-sales department as well. The brand will now offer up to 2 years of software updates to all of its smartphones upwards of the OnePlus 3.
OnePlus, since launch has been popular both for its clean software experience and its aggressive price tags. Apart from that, OnePlus has also been consistent with updating its smartphones with software updates in the past (barring the OnePlus 2). However, it has always been a mystery on how long the brand will keep updating its smartphones, until now.
The software updates that will keep rolling to the brand’s offerings will include security patches as well as new features. We can also hope to see the phones keeping up with the blazingly fast performance they have out of the box. The brand will be pushing out security updates every two months for its devices since the month of their respective launch. Apart from that, we can expect high priority security updates to come in the event of a critical bug between this period too.
The Flagship Killer brand has announced that this schedule will be effective immediately. To summarise, the OnePlus 3 and 3T owners can expect their respective devices to receive software updates until November 2018. Following this, the phones will receive security updates up till November of 2019.
OnePlus has also psyched up its fans by stating that they should hear from them about an exciting news regarding Android version update, which could be about Android P.
