OnePlus reportedly working on truly wireless earbuds

On: December 11, 2019

True wireless earphones are fast gaining traction since many smartphone manufacturers are skipping the 3.5mm headphone jack. Now OnePlus is reportedly looking to enter the audio market with its wireless earphones. The brand will compete against the likes of the Apple AirPods and Samsung Galaxy Buds. Interestingly, Realme is also set to introduce its Realme Buds Air wireless earbuds in India on December 17th. According to tipster Max J, OnePlus is working on its first truly wireless earbuds. In a tweet, he shared a concept image that says “Listen without cords in your way”. Apart from this, the image doesn’t reveal any design or other details.

OnePlus already offers neckband style wireless earphones in the form of OnePlus Bullets and Bullets 2. The truly wireless earbuds could arrive as the successor to Bullets Wireless 2. OnePlus is expected to retain the design language that is found on its regular wireless earphones. The upcoming earbuds will have silicone ear tips and a metallic finish. The OnePlus wireless earbuds could come with powerful drivers, better tuning, higher battery capacity and an overall premium build. It’s unknown whether OnePlus will equip its truly wireless earbuds with noise cancellation.

Currently, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 is priced at Rs 5,990. The truly wireless earbuds are expected to carry a higher price tag depending on the features. OnePlus will unveil the OnePlus 8 series of smartphones in the first half of 2020. So it’s likely that the Chinese brand will introduce its truly wireless earbuds at the same event.
