OnePlus is gearing up to announce its upcoming affordable television series on July 2nd in India. The brand has confirmed that the TV lineup will consist of an entry-level and a mid-range offering with prices starting under Rs 20,000. Previously, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had teased the display features of the upcoming TVs.
Now, in an interview with Android Central, Lau revealed that the upcoming OnePlus models will focus on design and user experience. The company’s affordable offering will feature a thinner body than the OnePlus 8 series. OnePlus also demonstrated this by comparing the TV to OnePlus 8 in a render.
OnePlus TVs (2020) specifications and features
As seen in the render, the upcoming OnePlus TV will sport an ultra-thin design measuring 6.9mm in terms of thickness. Lau also revealed in a tweet that the television will feature thin bezels and offer a 95 percent screen-to-body ratio. The upcoming offering will be equipped with an innovative acoustic arrangement where the speakers are rotated by 90 degrees. This has allowed OnePlus to fit two full-range speakers producing a 50 percent deeper bass. Another design aspect is that the upcoming OnePlus TVs will sport a carbon fiber back pattern which is similar to the OnePlus TV Q1. As for user experience, Lau did not state any specific features but added that OnePlus’ goal is to ‘set the standard’ for smart TV products.
The upcoming OnePlus TVs are also confirmed to come with a DCI-P3 93 percent colour gamut. The televisions will be powered by the company’s Gamma Engine and come with Dolby Vision certification.
OnePlus is expected to announce its upcoming TVs in 32 and 43-inch display variants. It’s just a matter of days until the launch event where we will know more details. OnePlus has already started accepting pre-orders for its OnePlus TVs (2020) on Amazon with extended warranty and cashback offers.
