OnePlus TV to come with 55-inch QLED display

On: August 23, 2019

Smartphone maker OnePlus had recently announced that it will unveil its first OnePlus TV next month. Details are currently scarce about the television, but as the launch date grows closer, the company is starting to share more information.

Now in a tweet, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus TV will sport a 55-inch display with QLED display panel. QLED is a short form for quantum-dot LED, which is a technology also used by Samsung. The 55-inch TV is expected to offer 4K video resolution with HDR support. Earlier reports have revealed that OnePlus may launch its TV in four screen size options of 43, 55, 65, and 75-inches. So it’s likely we will see more variants of the OnePlus TV. However, it’s unclear if the other display variants will be launched in India.

Alongside announcing the 55-inch QLED display, OnePlus also shared the dedicated page link of its upcoming TV on Amazon India with a live ‘Notify Me’ button. Previous reports have hinted that the OnePlus TV could come with Bluetooth 5.0 support and a unique Android TV experience. In a blog post previously, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said that OnePlus TV will be a “premium flagship” with superior image and sound quality and an attractive design. The TV will also work as a smart hub. We also expect OnePlus to partner with various regional content providers in India.

The OnePLus TV will initially be an India exclusive product, and is expected to launch in late September. OnePlus hopes to expand to Europe, North America and China once it establishes partnership with regional content providers in those countries.
