Known for disrupting the smartphone market with premium phones at affordable pricing, OnePlus is now looking to enter the smart TV segment. Co-founder and CEO Pete Lau had confirmed back in September last year that the company is developing a smart TV. He had revealed that OnePlus will launch a smart TV sometime in 2019 to diversify its product portfolio. Not much information regarding the TV surfaced since the announcement. Recently, the OnePlus TV remote control was spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification portal.
A new report by MySmartPrice claims that OnePlus is planning to launch a range of its smart TVs in the last week of September 2019, anywhere between the 25th and the 30th of the month. The speculated launch date is September 26, but there’s no official word from OnePlus on the launch timeframe.
The certification listing reveals that OnePlus could launch its smart TV in four display sizes of 43, 55, 65, and 75-inches. The report claims that the TV could make its way in China, India, and the US markets. It also adds that the company will be using panels from TPV Display Technologies for at least one of its TVs. OnePlus is also expected to launch an OLED TV. The listing reveals that the TVs could come with support for Bluetooth 5.0 and provide a unique Android TV experience. Additionally, the OnePlus TVs are expected to come with 4K HDR screens, premium design, Android OS, and AI enhancements. Previously Lau had mentioned that the current smart TVs don’t offer a well-integrated internet experience, hence the OnePlus TVs could offer an integrated internet experience along with AI-powered voice assistant.
In India, OnePlus TVs will be available for purchase through Amazon.in. These are just rumours at the moment, so we advise you to wait for official confirmation from the company. The upcoming OnePlus TVs will compete against Xiaomi’s Mi LED TVs.
