Around a year ago, OnePlus had run a TV naming competition to seek name suggestions for its TV project from OnePlus fans. Today, the company has officially confirmed its first smart TV product is called ‘OnePlus TV’. It is speculated that the OnePlus TV will be made official by the end of the coming month.
The company says that ‘OnePlus TV’ name represents the brand’s value, vision and pride. It has also shared the logo that it will be using for its TV product. It did not reveal any information on the specifications of the TV, however. Hence, it is not known whether the company will be launching a single TV or multiple units in different sizes.
Rumours suggest that the OnePlus TV will come in four display sizes of 43-inches, 55-inches, 65-inches and 75-inches. It could run a customised version of Android OS and may also carry support for a smart assistant. Earlier this week, well-known tipster Ishan Agarwal had claimed that OnePlus TV series may go official between September 25th and September 30th. He also added a reliable source has suggested that the OnePlus TV launch event may take place on September 26th.
It is speculated that the 43-inch model could be exclusively available in India. According to 91mobiles, the OnePlus TV for India will be equipped with Jio streaming apps. The 75-inch edition could be heading to markets like the US and China. The top model may carry support for 4K HDR. The OnePlus TV is expected to come equipped with a Bluetooth-enabled remote control. It could be designed to deliver a well-integrated internet experience and it may also serve as a smart hub for controlling other smart devices.
