OnePlus Remote Control Bags Bluetooth Approval; Hints At Nearing OnePlus TV Launch

A OnePlus remote control has appeared on the database of the Bluetooth certification website. Recent reports have suggested that OnePlus is actively working on a premium smart TV. It appears that the newly-spotted remote control could belong to the upcoming OnePlus TV.

The Bluetooth SIG certification of the OnePlus remote control that has a model number of RC-001A only confirms that it carries support for Bluetooth 4.2. Recently, a reliable tipster had claimed that the arrival of OnePlus TV is not far away. The OnePlus TV is likely to go official within the next few months.

OnePlus TV Bluetooth SIG

OnePlus is known for launching “T” editions of its latest smartphones in the second half of the year. Last year, the OnePlus 6T was unveiled in October as an upgraded version of the OnePlus 6 that was made official in May 2018. Hence, there is a possibility that OnePlus may announce the OnePlus 7T in October. The company might use the same event to launch the OnePlus TV, or it may hold a separate event to announce its smart TV given that it’s an entirely new category.

Nothing much is known on the specs and features of the OnePlus TV. It is expected to arrive with a 4K LED display, and it expected to be powered with a mainstream OS along with its own AI engine. The smart TV from OnePlus could be well integrated with smart home products. Rumors are rife that it could be running on Android and it may come equipped with Google Assistant. The above shown Bluetooth listing suggests that the TV will be accompanied by a Bluetooth assisted remote control. Also, the OnePlus TV will be able to seamlessly connect with OnePlus smartphones. Some reports have claimed that it could be featuring a built-in camera.

During the unveil event of OnePlus 7 in India in May, Vikas Agarwal, the India Head for OnePlus had said that the company’s next focus for the Indian market is OnePlus TV. The smart TV from OnePlus is likely to carry a competitive price and it will be exclusively available through Amazon India.
