OnePlus’ unified OS launch timeline has been tipped. Tipster Yogesh Brar has claimed that it will be based on Android 13 OS. The upcoming OnePlus 10 Pro, which is expected to debut in March or April in India, will be equipped with OxygenOS 12. The new unified OS may come preinstalled on a new OnePlus flagship that is expected to debut later this year.

Back in September 2020, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that OnePlus’ OxygenOS and OPPO’s ColorOS will be merged into a new unified OS. The new OS is expected to offer the best features of both custom ROMs. According to Lau, the new OS will offer a fast, smooth, clean, feature-rich, and stable experience. Unfortunately, there is no word on its final marketing name.

Brar said that the unified OS will be announced in the second half of 2022. He added that it will be based on Android 13, which is expected to debut in Q3 this year. At present, the unified OS is under the early development phase, and it is likely to be seen on a OnePlus flagship phone launching later this year. Lau had previously claimed that the full merger of OxygenOS and ColorOS will be completed with the launch of Android 13 this year.

He revealed that the unified OS will not have any unnecessary preinstalled apps, bloatware, and ads, and it will provide a lot of customisations. Nothing much is known about the features of the unified OS, but the company has confirmed that it will consume less power and offer an easy-to-use camera interface. Apart from OnePlus phones, even new OPPO phones released in global markets will run on the new OS. Later, the unified OS is expected to be made available for existing OnePlus and OPPO smartphones.

Last week, Brar had claimed that an upcoming flagship, likely to be called OnePlus 10 Ultra, is in the Engineering Verification Testing (EVT) phase. He claimed that the device will be called OnePlus 10 Pro Plus. Another tipster recently shared patent images (shown above) of a OnePlus smartphone, which appears like an enhanced version of the OnePlus 10 Pro. It remains to be seen whether the rumoured OnePlus 10 Pro Plus arrives with the design seen in the patent images.

The images revealed that the OnePlus 10 Pro+ has a curved-edge display on the front and a squarish rear-facing camera module with a periscope lens and a secondary screen. At present, there is no word on its specifications, and it is unclear whether it will ship with the new unified OS.
